Yes, but I want it in NTFS for using the windows machine as the backup server. I don't really want to re-format if possible as I have two drives in a redundancy cycle and I'd be wiping all my backup and data timelines (and have no where else really to put them in the mean time). Pixel

OK - I've had a suggestion that the problem may be the fact that the external drive is connected to the PC via USB2 - and the Mac tries to copy the data too quickly and causes the transfer to fail - is there any truth in this does anyone know?
