I have a fairly interesting problem to predict the outcome of....
my companies exchange organisation - org-x has 4 sites;
sites A, B, C and D
Sites A and B are based in the States and were created as the first sites when the organisation was set up. The public folder tree originates from a...
A bit of a strange query here - we want to set up a group of users with Outlook email (Exchange 5.5) but we want to severely restrict what these users can do with email - we've got an effective method of blocking internet mail and we can control who they can receive mail from via Delivery...
I've just updated by Exch 5.5 to SP4 and then I ran the ESEUTIL integrity checks etc. I then went to run the ISINTEG in test only mode as I had a bit of time to spare but got the following error;
command line was ISINTEG -PUB -DETAILED -TEST ALLTESTS
Error returned was "Configuring tstmgr...
We've got an IMC on Exch 5.5 which receives incoming SMTP from 2 different feeds - one feed for our main domain has been rerouted - it used to go via a Mailsweeper machine and now comes direct. But the Exchange Server doesn't pick up mail or respond to the sending machines. Instead we get the...
I've just started using a local DNS server for Internet Mail
but I got a lot of messages failing to send because of resolution failing. The DNS server I use locally actually is a forwarded and goes to an internet DNS server to resolve which takes a few seconds. What I think is happening is that...
Can anyone recommend a way of counting the total amount of messages stored on a single Exchange Server. I know that in Exchange Admin you can view mailbox resources but there's no way of exporting that data.
Maybe a third party reporting tool that does this and more?
Thanks for any help you...
Thanks for earlier answers
I want to 'demote' the server as we're eliminating some of the domains in the organisation. Even though it will be a little bit slower for Outlook clients to authenticate as there is no SAM database on the server, it does mean that the server will be faster as it...
Can anyone tell me the quickest way to 'demote' an Exchange 5.5 Server to a member server without loss of data etc.
What would happen if NT was installed as a member server 'over the top' of a BDC?
Or if the server was rebuilt from scratch as a member server and then the Exchange...
I have a strange intermittent problem where one of our users receives many messages with attachments. On some of the messages with Word 97 Attachments the user will try to save the attachment and Outlook will hang. Also if they try to move the whole message to a PST file Outlook will hang.
It...
I've now updated to build 2575 and so far it seems to be stable so that is the fix that works for us although others have reported other solutions working for them.

Thanks for the reply - the more I dig into this issue the more complex it gets - the internet newsgroup for this product is a mine of information (and of other people with the same Dr Watson errors!).

My first attempt at fixing this was to repatch the server go SP6a as it hadn't been...
Thanks for the thought - only problem with doing that is that the exch service account logs into each mailbox every day during backup and virus scanning. But thank you for responding anyway.

Andy
Anyone know of any reporting tools which will report unread message counts in hundreds of mailboxes - we've got loads of unused boxes from staff who have left which we'd like to delete - looking at unread message counts gives us a good indications as the boxes continue to receive messages from...
We run Backup Exec 7.3 locally backing up a largish Exchange 5.5 server right down to mailbox level. Just recently the backup had been failing with a Dr Watson on Bengine.exe with access violation 0xc0000005 address 0x01605a68. When it fails it hangs at a certain point in the backup - time keeps...
