If you cannot ping yourself, you may have firewall issues. Check proxy and firewall settings.

From what I am aware Netbeui is an older protocol, and worked with older versions of Windows, (Windows for Workgroups, Windows 95 and Windows NT.) What version of Windows are you using, and what is the network using. There could be many other issues too. I dont know a lot about Netbeui but...
