Upgraded NT4 PDC to Win2K resulted in disjointed domain

Heres the KB article. Copied it out of my Technet CD Hope it helps. Method 1 is what I was referring to in my first post. It's worked the couple times that I've used it, even though the article says it won't. Also change the name to show the correct ones in the other 2 places you see it...

That is how I set it up. While for each account the email properties and POP&SMTP information is relevant to each account, any email recieved or sent or deleted shows in everyones accounts personal folders. If I log on and download my email and read it or keep in in my inbox and then close...

    Event Log (Application Log) corrupted

The application log in the event viewer says that it is corrupted, which is due to some bad blocks on the hard drive. I was able to get the blocks marked, however, how do I go about getting the application log repaired so that it will be able to log events. I looked on MS's site and didn't see...

Win 2000 Server randomly reboots ?!?!?!

Thanks everyone, Disabled the automatic rebooting, and as I was shutting it down it rebooted in the middle of the shutdown. Then did it a couple of times after the change was made and verified, so no go with that. And no I don't have automatic updating setup on the server, and I don't...

I have a server that is also the DC of a small domain. For the past few weeks, it has been randomly rebooting. Sometimes it will get stuck on the loading splash screen. Other times it will reboot right to the logon screen. I only know about the times it boots to the logon screen becuase the...

XP Pro can't connect to internet through router on cable modem

Try to ping the router at xxx.xxx.x.1, from your commputer. If you can't ping it, try using a crossover cable between the router and the hub. I've had the same thing happen to me before, and using the crossover cable between the devices took care of the problem. Shawn

Machine name is out of sync with rest of names in domain

You might go to the MS site and reference knowledge base article Q257623. It sounds like the problem that you are having. However, if it is, there is a way to fix it even thought the article says there isn't. Shawn

    XP as remote client?

Bronto, I thought that Win2K pro and XP pro came with the terminal services access clients built in, and that you only needed to buy them if using NT 4.0 or earlier versions of windows. I thought that I read that you only needed to buy the server client licenses and you were good to go...

GrnEyedLdy, I am new at this AD thing, so please excuse me if I don't explain myself clearly. I am using the default domain policy, that I have edited. How to Ghost PC's with OEM XP

I could be wrong, but based on my experience with the Dell OEM XP CD's, if you use on of those to build your image you will not need to do activation. Doing clean installs with either Dell and Gateway OEM XP Pro cd used with the appropriate computer, has never required me to do activation. The...

    SBS 2000 Question

This may sound kind of stupid, but after looking at the Microsoft site, I am still unsure if the following is possible. Is it possible to upgrade a standalone Windows 2000 Server DC to Small Business Server 2000? It comes out much cheaper for us to do it this way than to buy some of the...

Norton antivirus 7.5 corporate edition won't uninstall

I had the same problem with an upgrade to win2000. I uninstalled all Norton programs, and then tried to install Norton 2002 Systemworks, and it wouldn't let me install the anti-virus program, because there was a previous version still installed on the machine. I used the tool and still didn't...

    Dell XP Home Edition

The previous post is correct. I tried to install a Dell copy of XP Pro on a Compaq as a experiment. No go, it appears that there is a search as it loads from CD to look for a Dell bios. No Dell bios, no install. Shawn
