To add to what Erik said, since you know how to access the registry, look again at many keys such as run or runservices, some of this crud knows how to reinstall itself as fast as you delete it. After running the mentioned spyware products, or others, look again at those two particular keys...

Deleting the run button is certainly new to me. I've seen a couple of virus advisories this week, but haven't seen the actual virus yet. I assume you have checked the websites for the latest viruses. Perhaps try the latest version of McAfee's stinger? I assume its been updated this week.

Right after I posted that message, it crashed again and refused to restart the service. I tried for a couple of hours. In another thread someone thought it was Code Red going around again. I ran the clean up utility, ran the code red patch and it started up again. Up for 2 hours now.

Well, we have been 24 hours with no problems!
