All, There are talks of a Disaster Recovery site in my future! Current environment is mostly unix servers of all flavors including a solaris master, 2 solaris media servers, 4 HP media servers and 2 AIX media servers and over 400 clients. Anyone have any input on building a site from...

    Block Level Incr.

Thanks for the response. I dont think that the SYNTHETIC FULL would really help unless there is some type of block level SYNTHETIC or something. Every file in the database changes once the database is started after the Timefinder split. No matter what type of backup you run it will always be...

    Block Level Incr.

Currently doing some research on Block Level Incr backups. Im having some trouble deciding if this is the right fit for us. Here is the lowdown. We currently have an Oracle database of 12 Terabytes. We use Timefinder to establish BCV,s and split twice a week. Next we mount these BCV's to an...

NetBackup Catalog Wont fit on a tape!!!

I have been searching the archives and cannot find any info on what to do if your catalog backup will not fit on one tape? Also im not even certain that the data will not fit on the tape but the size of the catalog would reflect this as being the error and not the error code 84 that we have...

Need to extend Image retention time

If you are not positive you have the correct tapes its a good idea to change the retentions by backup_id. Use the bpflist command to query the imagedb and get all of the images associated with the servers backups first. Then use the bpexpdate command by backup_id. S.

    Whats Happening!

I can post from the master but not the client. We have this great system here were the NetBackup admins are not granted access to any servers besides the Unix servers. Would the bp.conf from the master alone help at all??? This error message is only seen while attempting backups and or...

    Whats Happening!

Hey everyone, MASTER=Solaris 8 Client=Novell 6 NetBackup 4.5 MP6 Restore fails occasionally, halfway through with status 5!(Generic) Many instances of the following message in the bpcd log. BPCD_LOG_RQST_NO_STATUS If restore fails re-trying works but messages are a constant. No instance of...

    Oracle Backup without agent???

The rman backup is quite tricky especially when backing up large amounts of data.(5 terabytes) Its much easier to just shutdown the database and perform a filesystem backup. That way if there is an error of some sort, 84,85... you dont have to re-run the entire backup, just the failed...

    Media Managment

Im running 3.4_5 on a Solaris 8 master. Im using vault only to eject original tapes and not to make copies. Anyone seen his! 1. Vault sessions are ran and tape 123xyz is set to go into the vault until day a/b/2003. 2. When volumes are filtered from the Media Managment gui to show only tapes...
