I just re-installed and changed my computer name during the process. When I re-installed a software with Flexml protection, it did not worked ! I guessed may be I had to change the computer name back to its previous name .
How can I change my computer's name without having to re-install...
The "Task Manager" in my system ( WinXP Pro + SP1 ) was disabled by some Website without my knowlege (even though I have the newest ZoneAlarm Pro and F-Prot in the system !! ). Each time I press Ctrl+ Alt+Del , I get the message " Task Manager has been disabled by your administrator" . Please...
Thanks, Johnny, for the tip. But you raised some concern on my part about the power supply . Do you mean I cannot re-use the ATX power supply ? Is there a specific power supply for MicroATX mobo ? Please clarify this issue .
Best regards,
Thanks ,shaner66 and bcastner, for the excellent tips. ! Bcastner's diagnosis was right-on ! and Nero was back and "Baby burns, baby !!" Thank you... :-)
I've been using Nero 6.0.0.11 for a few weeks with no problem. Yesterday, when I tried to burn a data CD from the HD , it gave out the error message : " Drive is in use by another application" even though there was only a blank CD in the CD-RW drive. Everything seemed normal until I...
Thanks, shaner66 , for your comment.
I wonder if this flashing might indicate some issues in the future . This monitor did not behave like this before . As I know nothing about monitor, I need some ressurance that the monitor is O.K .
In the last few days, the monitor in my system (NEC MultiSync 70, WinXP Pro, Celeron 900) suddenly flashed in a light orange color a few times before showing the usual screen at start-up. What does this all mean ? How can fix this problem ? Thanks.
bcastner theory is most intriguing : killing the HD with a remote bios flash ! I do not support my friend's D/L warez stuffs and interested in a scientific explanation for the incident only. Please withhold your ethical comments in our discussion for science's sake. Thanks...
Thanks for your comments. So far the view is : it's a virus problem. I am not so sure as this guy is in his game, knows what he is into and gets himself well protected with anti-virus, anti-trojans etc....He told me he scheduled anti-virus & trojans checks after closing the browser . I kind of...
A friend of mine just had his hard drive zapped by a website ( as he claimed to be so ). I find his story so unbelievable and could not understand how such a thing could have happened . Here is the story :
_My friend is a download freak and loves testing out new softwares. He visits warez sites...
After all these checkings, the mouse was not still working. I had to resort to the final solution: format the Windows partition and install a clean WinXP PRo from scrach. It worked and I still did not know why the PS-2 did not work before the installation. The unbelievable lesson is : if you do...
I just shut-down the PC, connected a working PS-2 mouse to the serial port using a <PS-2 To Serial> adaptor and restarted the system. The same thing happened : no mouse response , only a frozen mouse pointer at the center of the screen . There was no keyboard response here either, but the...
Thanks for these precious tips !
__ How can I check to see if the PS-2 connection was fried ? If it did, does that means I have to buy a new mobo ( It's a brandnew AsusP4B533-V , Ouch !! :-( )? Or can I replace the PS-2 Connection ? I have no idea in this area. Please instruct.
__Please give...
Thanks, amdbeast. I unplugged the PS-2 mouse and booted up again. Nothing changed. The keyboard was non-responsive. I also noticed from the beginning, there was a mouse pointer frozen at the middle of the screen. Where did this come from ?
I am pretty certain the keyboard was o.k. as I checked...
I was using a wireless mouse in my system ( Win XP Pro , Pentium 4, 2250 mhz) when it froze. I unplugged the mouse USB receiver and plugged in a working and checked PS-2 mouse . Now I had no mouse support at all ( i.e. the mouse pointer froze ! ) when I started to reinstall WinXP Pro to repair...
