1. By default SMTP relay is disabled for anyone outside your network.
2. Yes you have to run DNS if you aren't using a smart host as Exchange uses DNS to lookup domain names.
Hi
I have an Exchange 2003 server running with 6 remote offices connected to it with a permanent VPN. Each office has a different domain name.
Every remote user is prompted for a username and password every time they open up Outlook.
I have added the username and password in the Manage Passwords...
Hi
I'm running Symantec Backup Exec 10.1 Rev 5629 with SP3 on a Windows 2003 R2 SP1 server.
Notifications to email or printers do not work but the tests do. What am I missing?
Thanks for any help.
Windows Server 2003 does not have a firewall like Windows XP. Unless you have ISA a standard Windows server has no firewall whatsoever and cannot protect a network.
Yeah I see what you're saying. I will try that but I'm sure I had problems in the past doing that. Its ok copying different users ie. local to local and domain to domain but not from domain to local I'm sure. Will give it a bash.
Thanks again
You see when I highlight the domain account on the workstation the Copy To button greys out but if its a local account I am able to copy it.
I'm just worried that I'll have to reinstall and resetup everything after its joined to a workgroup.
Thanks
Hi
I have a number of workstations which log into a Windows 2003 server which is being decomissioned and the workstations setup as a workgroup.
Is there an (easy) way to keep the existing profiles?
Thanks for any help.
I am having exactly the same problem, here is a screenshot

I have updated my graphics card drivers, changed graphics card and updated the chipset drivers. Also run SFC and re-installed Service Pack 1.
Any ideas?
Hi
I was wondering if you can have Windows XP logging on to 2 different domains?
I have a laptop that I use at home and at work. I have a 2003 server running at home with a domain called SUTHERLAND and at work we have a 2000 server with a domain called PREMIER1. Is there any way of the laptop...
How do I restore the database to 'some temp area'?
I use MS SQL 2000 and have the same problem as the original poster has. I can't see how to restore the database files without overwriting the existing db or creating a new db in SQL.
Thanks
You only need to install the remote agent if you want to backup files or folders which are not shared. You also cannot backup the remote system state without it. So if you are backing up a few files or folders which are already shared then there is no real need for the remote agent.
Hope this helps
Hi
I am trying to restore a single database in SQL 2000 to another database with a different name (so as not to over write the current one). According to Enterprise Manager the database is 1653MB but Veritas claims it needs around 141GB to restore which I do not have available.

Hi
Hopefully this will be a quick yes/no answer! I have a network running Windows 2000 Server which accepts incoming VPN connections from about 5 home users. One of these users just bought a new laptop with Windows XP Home on it. Now obviously XP Home cannot log onto a domain but it can still...
