O.K, I have used the offline defrag in the past to free up space and it's worked fine - I tried it last night after a week of deleting and archiving over 5gb of email data and to my suprise (and horror as I have only about 500mb of space left on my server)I found it only freed up 800mb.

I have someone using software that is tied to a MAC address, the network card that it was tied to broke so I put a new card in and spoofed the address to make the software work, this was a few months back.
Someone's network card died yesterday, I grabbed one off the shelf and stuck it in, not...
I am having the same problem - getting patches from Microsoft is laughable, you have to call them up and then you are told the patches are no longer available - forcing you to upgrade your server.
I have found that if I install outlook 2000 first then do an upgrade to outlook 2003 it works fine...
Zbnets way seems a little over complicated to me!
you could just give your Boss user right to view the person's mailbox who has left, then just add it in as an extra mailbox from the services menu on outlook.
It keeps things nice and simple as the mail box is availible to view old and new...
I would say £50 for the celeron+P2's and £100 for the P4's.
But if your company wants to be nice they could put everyone name who wants a PC in a hat and draw names for who has first choice on the old PC's and give it to them for free.
The money the company will make is not a lot from selling...
Trying to connect my exchange 5.5 server from my workstation running win2K using exch administrator and I get a connection could not be made error with

I have fixed the little bugger now!!
It was in IIS settings, I went into my Domain properties for the SMTP server, then delivery tab, then advanced button - in here was written orion2 for my FQDN.
I changed it to orion (the actual server name) but this still gave the same error on sending...
It's an NT4 network, not AD.

No, Exchange server 5.5 is running on a server called Hubble.
The Orion server is a relay server in the "DMZ" all outgoing mail passes through it as does all incoming mail for virus and spam scanning before it gets to the exchange server.
There is no server called Orion2 anymore, it was...

I'm doing a test upgrade from 5.5 to 2000, I have setup the ADC and
installed Exch2k on my test 2K AD domain - I am in the proccess of replicating data from 5.5 to 2K.
I started on the public folders by going into exch5.5 admin -> public folder
resources, then on the replicas tab I added my...
yes, i did this to restore some info, it took a day tops to install NT4 server and exchange 5.5 on an offline PC and I left it to restore overnight.
it's good disaster recovery practice too - what would you do if your exchange server blew up tomorrow?
At least this way you would have a hot...
I had this same problem, if (like ArcserveQueen suggested) you have renamed the server you will need to change the RNNAME, to do this right click my computer, properties, advanced, enviroment variables, then in system variables look for the RNNAME entry and check this is the same as your server...
