None that I know of. I use a program called Iconoid which keeps track of icon positions and text color. but it wont work unless drop shadow is off. It provides a way to turn off drop shadow. But im wondering why drop shadow gets reset on boot. It's just a nit but i'm curious.

Every time I reboot the option to "Use drop shadows for Icon labels on the desktop" is rechecked. What programs could be resetting this option to ON. I don't want it on. Thanks

You could also try deleting the recycle bin from the desktop and reboot windows will rebuild it.

Thats most likely the case. But would be nice to know exactly what, when,& where the program is used. I dont like mysteries.

I do have an IBM Aptiva model 2164-631. Looks like IBM has dropped all information on this model from their site.
