Hi,
I want to move a backup client from one backup server to another and preserve the older backups which go back 6 months. After the copy I would like to perform a test restore. What procedure will I have to go through to complete this? I guess I need to create the client on the new server...
Hi,
Despite a user here being in added to the auth.conf as having root access he is unable to perform restores using the Admin Console.
The 'Destination' tab on the restore GUI is greyed out. This only happens on his local laptop. Any idea what causes this?

Hello,
I have a NetBackup client 4.5.7 running on an NT box with a problem when I attempt a file restore.
I have tried viewing files from the master server (UNIX Solaris 9 with NB 5.1MP4) on the restore window. Nothing in one particular folder appears. I can view the folders but not any...
Hi,
Is there a way of finding out the size of the restore I want to perform before actually doing it? I would like to find out the size of a folder rather than just a single file.
-Marc.
I have media in a robot which is assigned to our offsite media pool (called LTO) but there is no assigned date on the media. See below...

Thanks, the server is actually in Cork while I work near London so I didn't see what happened during the reboot. I have got local admin there to check out the hardware/OS.
The server is due for decommission soon so its been neglected a bit recently!
HI,

Server was rebooted yesterday and since the OS seems to of lost sight of the autochanger. Below is the output from the inquire command?
Have the drivers been lost or something? I have tried another reboot of the server and library with no luck. Any advice...
I found, after trying lots of fixes like the one above, was that the client s/w was installed to the incorrect version (5.1) and I should install the s/w under the Oracle account.
We actually ended up going back to client version 4.5.7.
I have SQL agent installed on my client running MS-SQL server. My backup exits with status 2. Here is some info from the dbclient log. Any idea what is going on?

Hi, I have had the following request to generate info for all our clients on multiple master servers we look after.
A client list is needed to include Server-Name, OS type, OS version, Netbackup version, and resident agents (ex. SAP, RMAN, Notes...).
Is there a command within NetBackup which...
I can't see a restore button, the only way I can view the media required that I know of is to actually start the restore and view its progress.
I'm doing this from a W2K client GUI btw.
I think I may of sussed it out anyway. I need to select the transaction logs on the GUI as well as the...
Hello,
I have a query regarding NB 4.5 client restores using transaction logging to restore a Domino database (Domino 5.0.10).
Using the client GUI I can select the date range etc. and start the restore. The restore process restores the full backup and that is reported as status 0. Then...
Unable to restore file, 'access to client is not allowed' it tells me.
I have checked the entries in the bp.conf files and these look fine.
Confused!? Help!
Marc.
Bah!
Tried the restore again with an increased verbose setting and couldn't recreate the failure....the restore was successful!
Will look at the tape devices used for each restore attempt now *sigh*.
OK Thanks. I still am looking for more info in the logs. Maybe as I said our verbose log setting in the bp.conf isn't high enough (it is currently set at 2).
The problem we have is with a bad tape we think but the logs are giving nothing away. The bptm log during the restore merely reports...
Yes, we use the java GUI for the restores, but the output I see from in the logs is minimal.
Is there a special bprestore verbose setting or do I just crank up the overall setting to 9?
