Just after a reccomendation on which processor to buy to replace my aging 1800XP
My system is:
Abit NF7 board
generic 1024 PC2700 RAM
Radeon 9800
and the Athlon 1800
I really want to know wether its worth getting a Athlon64?
thanks bofhrevenge2. Won't I get a sharing violation when more than 1 person logs in and picks that profile up?
Also I have 150 users so adding the share name to the properties would be a pain - is there no way to do that using group policy?
sorry to take so long to clear this up.
I took the cdrw out of the pc and all has been fine ever since - it must have been screwing up the ide bus
thanks all
I want to force all users to have mandatory profiles. I have been using roaming profiles but its becoming a pain.
I gather it is best to use group policy to enforce mandatory profiles but i'm unsure how to do this.
Also I would like to know how the mandatory profile is created the first time a...
I have a csv file exported from a Windows 2000 AD using CSDVE, I have cropped it down to just DN, objectClass and sAMAccountName. Theres about 250 users in there.
When I try to import this to my new server I get:
Add error on line 2: Referal The server side error is "A referral was returned...
You might be on to something there actually Ben. One of the cables I am using us a rounded IDE that I bought from PC World and the other I got from god knows where. I'll have to chcek that they are both 80 pin.
At the moment I have everything except my CDRW plugged in and all seems to be well...
Hi, I have a solution - don't stomp you foot there ;-)
But seriously you will have a dodgy connection somewhere possibly between your pc and monitor.
Does the screen come back on?
Has the PC crashed at this point?
Hmm well the plot thickens...
I tried another power supply last night but it was just the same so I think we can rule that out.
I then had a hunch (mainly cause of this disk pollng sound before the beeps start) and unplugged my dvd-rom, cdrw and slave ide drive leaving only my master hard...
Can anyone help me its driving me crazy.
Abit NF7-S rev 1.2

Out of the blue I start getting beep codes from the board, often 2 short followed by at least 6...
Well isn't it great that by writing something down you often solve it. I am somewhat embarrased but hey its fixed. The problem ws the Wireless security - WEP - i disabled security and all was well, musta typed the key incorrectly...doh
This has been driving me crazy. Hope you can help. 2 weeks ago all was well with this configuration.
Netgear DG834G adsl hub/router DHCP enabled 192.168.0.10 - 20 IP 192.168.0.100
PC (XP home)connected via cable - allocated 192.168.0.10. everything OK

Perhaps some PCs are still using the local profile. I'm afraid I never really solved my issues. Some users...
Hmmm... bugger.
Should I have the primary DNS on my server (in IP properties) set to the server itself?
Should all the clients have their primary DNS set to the server?
Is this why my GPO is not working?
...doh...if so I shall be beating myself with a stick later :-s
Thanks for the response
I have beeen a bit suspicious of DNS, but I thought the clients were logging on slowly cause of the roaming profiles.
I recently adjusted the LAN properties on the clients to use the Cisco router (proxy server - which appears to be a DNS server also) as a primary...
