I am having real problems with IIS 5 on Win2000 and it just won't run with the services all hanging on startup.
So I was thinking of scraping IIS and using Apache instead to test my code locally.
How easy is it to setup?
I will need to test HTML, PHP and ASP(might be the problem).

I do have Zone Alarm Pro on my machine but it's not running when the machine boots.
But it does seem to block some internet traffic even when it's not apparently running. Is it still actually running in the background all the time?
Would I therefore have to uninstall it?

Further to that under Services the World Wide Web Publishing Sevice is stuck on Starting so I assume this is the point it has crashed.
Would it solve the problem if I set this service to start manually and then start it once Windows has loaded?
I had IIS running for a day before the system crashed and now IIS won't start when I bootup.

The temps you are all getting makes me think my system temp. is very good.
I am running an Athlon XP 2000+ with two HD's, GeForce 3 Ti Card etc... and my CPU temp is between 50.5 and 52.5 and these are idle and playing Return to Castle Wolfenstein for hours online.

I thought the version with Win2000 was 4. I am using Pro.
I managed to uninstall IIS from safemode and then rebooted into win2000 fine.
I then reinstalled using add windows components from the control panel add/remove programs.
This installed fine and so I rebooted to test it and it does...
