OK - I got my problem solved. Turns out the issue was the /etc/hosts.allow file. I added the following lines on my master server:
vnetd : ALL : ALL
bpcd : ALL : ALL
and my problem was fixed. Also needed to add the second line only (bpcd line) to the same file on all my clients...
No...
Did you ever resolve this? I'm having the exact same issue on a RedHat 4 x86 64-bit system. I've been working with Veritas support, but they've come up with nothing so far.
If you got it fixed, would you please share the fix with me? I'll do the same if/when I get it resolved.
Thanks in...
You can do this with iSCSI. You'll need a virtualization head (concentrator) that can talk iSCSI and FC or SCSI (whatever the MSA500 is). I've worked with StoneFly concentrators and find them extremely easy to use and very reliable.
There are other native iSCSI disk arrays out there if you...
Just a note about wanting to compare RAID5 with 10 disks and RAID10 with 10 disks. You mentioned for the RAID10 setup, it would be "2 mirrors of 5 stripes" (which is really RAID 0+1). You never want to do this - you'd get much better availability doing the opposite (RAID 1+0 or RAID "10")...
I started noticing this when I upgraded from 6.1.1 to 6.2. Edit the properties of your "Networker User" shortcut, and add "-s servername" to the end of the target line. If it doesn't work after that, you probably have a name resolution problem.
I'm getting the same message as "wmg". Has anyone solved this problem? If so, can you post the fix that worked for you? Thanks a TON!!!!
Josh
Turned out to be an HBA problem. We were using QLogic 2200F HBAs, and switched to Compaq-branded Emulex LP8000's. The problem went away immediately. Thanks!
Has anyone ever seen anything similar to this:
Tape Label Read: The semaphore timeout period has expired.
I keep getting this on my SDLT drives (in a StorageTek 9710)running Legato 6.2 on W2K server.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!
Josh
I'm running 6.1.1 on Win2K SP2. I've got a couple of clients that used to be NT4 clients, but have recently been rebuilt on new hardware and Win2k server. They kept the same names. Here's what I'm getting:
save: RPC Error: Authentication error
save: Cannot open save session with...
I'm on Legato 6.1.1 on Windows 2000 with a STK 9710. I just upgraded from 3 DLT7000's to 6 SDLT drives. Out of the 6, 2 were DOA and had to be replaced. Then they all worked great for a couple of weeks, (and yes, they scream) but now I keep getting "Read Open Error:No media in...
Has anyone here ever used a Win2k domain controller as a NetWorker master server as well? I have several small remote sites that need to be backed up, and I'd rather not purchase another box for each site. Any reason this can't or shouldn't be done? Thanks!
I don't know of any formula, but it seems to me that the speed of your tape devices and the number of tape devices used will be the deciding factors. My tape library has 3 DLT 7000's, so I can only clone one volume at a time. As a guideline - our clone process takes about 2/3 of the time it...
Ok...I think the problem is fixed. It turns out that we had a tape drive on it's way out, and whenever Networker would try to do anything with that drive when backups were running, it would kick me out. I figured this out by watching the monitor tab very closely for a few days. Once the drive...
I'm using Networker 6.0.1 on Wintel platform (upgraded from 5.1). I'm running NT4 sp6a. Ever since I upgraded I've been having a TON of problems. One really ANNOYING problem is that when more than one group is running at once, it'll run for awhile, and then I'll get a message saying I've lost...
