Hi !

Now i have install netbackup 6 on a test system. I would test it before i upgrade the working backup server.

Ok, the installation ist done successfully, with one error
-----------------------------------------------------------
-> <16>bpauthorize main: Function connect_to_remote_server(test.backup-net) failed: 25 cannot connect on socket

You do not have the proper authorization to perform this task. Please resolve and try again.
-----------------------------------------------------------

I install as root, and have no authorization ?

The rest of the installation done and i want to start the administration console.
First, i look at the running processes ( bpps -a ).
There are many processes under NB Processes but nothing under MM Processes !?

I start the administration console -> jnbSA&
the login window pop up, i type in the Password ( the same as root ? ) an then i get a errormessage

------------------------------------------------------------
-> Unable to login, status : 525
Can not connect to the NB_java authentification service via
VNETD on test.backup-net on port 13724.
Check the log file for more information.
------------------------------------------------------------
Logfile :
...
ServerInterfaceLogon: java.net.ConnectException : Verbindung abgewiesen ( Connection refused )
...

Whats on ???

Hi again !

I forgot :

The "testsystem" is a Sun solaris 9, on sun Ultra 5.

Thanks

Did you ever resolve this? I'm having the exact same issue on a RedHat 4 x86 64-bit system. I've been working with Veritas support, but they've come up with nothing so far.

If you got it fixed, would you please share the fix with me? I'll do the same if/when I get it resolved.

Thanks in advance!
Josh

You might want to check your etc/services and make sure the ports are defined. Here is a sample:

# NetBackup services #

# End NetBackup services #

OK - I got my problem solved. Turns out the issue was the /etc/hosts.allow file. I added the following lines on my master server:

vnetd : ALL : ALL
bpcd : ALL : ALL

and my problem was fixed. Also needed to add the second line only (bpcd line) to the same file on all my clients...

No problems since... Hope this helps you!
