Okay, I'll give that a try when I get back to my computer. I'm currently at another school working now so I won't be able to try this out right away. But in any case, I think I know what to do now so thank you very much!
I think I have browsed through my documents and settings trying to import the outlook preferences but could not find the specified folder. But I have navigated to it before but it wasn't there last time I checked for some reason.
So what I'm asking is, what if there's no Local Settings folder?
Hi wolluf,
I want to log back into my school domain profile mainly so that I can get to my inbox for Outlook. But since I am out of school and cannot validate the domain, I can't log in with that profile.
I tried copying the profile in the advanced user settings, but when I highlighted the...
Hi, thanks for looking. I have two accounts on my computer: the Admin account (my computer domain) and the one that I use that logs in to my school domain. I recently changed to the workgroup from the school domain on my Admin account not realizing that it applied to the computer and not...
Hi Matt,
Yeah, I also tried using my friend's cable that he was using (so it definitely works), but I still got a no connection signal.
I'm thinking it's something to do with my port, or perhaps even a hacker...B/c my school was recently hacked. I don't know what else would explain my sporadic...
Hmm, I'm posting this from my computer so that means i have internet now. When I came back this afternoon, I found my computer to be on the network. Just like that..
So I'm thinking this will happen again. But why would I get connection of a sudden and be disconnected just as abruptly?
Okay, the problem is back. There was a brown-out last night and ever since the power was back, I haven't been able to connect to the school network or get internet access.
On the toolbar, it shows the computer sending data and not receiving for a bit, then it just says the cable is unplugged...
Hey,
thanks for the links, i checked out but couldn't find anything. however, i tried a new network adapter, a dlink instead of the 3com and my connection since has been alot more stable. i guess the problem is solved?
thanks anyway!
Hi, thanks for looking, I really need the help.
This past summer, I've been using dsl with my ethernet card and dsl modem through verizon. But when I came back to school, to the T1 connection, I've been having trouble maintaing a stable connection.
On my toolbar, where it shows that you have a...
AWESOME! I tried the password changer and now i'm back on my computer. Apparently I remembered my administrator account password incorrectly, but i still don't think that's it.
Thanks alot wolluf!
Oh, thank you haaba for the link too. I learned something!
Hi!
i have xp professional edition and i'm currently locked out of my computer right now. I'm at college so i need to log on to the network so i was trying to do that and i guess i messed up.
I tried switching workgroups and when I did, a dialog box prompted me for my username and password...
Hi,
There's probably an old thread about this but I can't find it anywhere or in any FAQs. Sorry for reposting if so, but I must finish this in an hour!
I have secured my database, it's not split and there's no .mde. But I want to distribute both Access 97 and Access 2000 versions and I'm not...
Hey, you're right. I'm actually just thinking about scrapping the security thing because I don't really know how to distribute the secured db...I'm thinking about creating 2 different db's, one for each level of user.
Hmm, that sounds complicated. This is actually my first db ever and I just started using Access this summer. Unfortunately, today's my last day so I don't think I'll be able to implement your idea.
Hehe, wrkgadm.exe is actually shortcutted on my desktop =) cuz i had alot of trouble with...
Robert,
I understand front/back end design much more now. I'm pretty sure I know how I want to go about distributing the db. I can't tell you how much you've helped me, if I could give you more stars, I'd give you them.
I now see the trouble of Access security. I read about all these problems...
And if I do split the db, and you said each user should have his own copy of the front end, then how do I make sure they open it with the workgroup file since I don't give them the shortcut?
Yep, I backup my work just about everyday on to the network server because I already had to start over once :\ learned the hard way. Actually, I have 2 different copies on the server - each a day's work apart.
SO, if i keep the database on the network someone, and send the shortcuts to...
Once again, I really appreciate all of your suggestions and explanations on such a simple question. I guess I'll start another thread on how to make the users open the shortcut that automatically connects them to the .mdw file.
Btw, I did split my db and I noticed a dramatic decrease in...
