Hi!

i have xp professional edition and i'm currently locked out of my computer right now. I'm at college so i need to log on to the network so i was trying to do that and i guess i messed up.

I tried switching workgroups and when I did, a dialog box prompted me for my username and password, but i accidentally pressed ok before i typed my password, but no warning came up. so i was like, okay, so i rebooted so i can log on to the network. but when i got to the sign on screen, i couldn't log in. i tried all the possibilities of passwords and usernames but no luck. i tried my admin account on local domain. i also had friends trying to log in to the computer with their names and that still didn't work.

any suggestions?

THANKS in advance!

Sounds like you've removed your machine from the domain and put it into a workgroup. This means you'll need a local user id to logon to machine (your's is a domain user id). Whoever set the machine up should have user id/password. If they're not around, you could try Administrator with no password or with password 'password' or 'admin' etc (local administrator accounts on Domain PCs often set up this way). Once you log on, you'll need to rejoin your domain (your account may not have privileges to do this - in which case you'll need to get one that has).

PS. This site has a disk image file to create CD which you can boot PC with and change local account XP passwords without knowing original.

AWESOME! I tried the password changer and now i'm back on my computer. Apparently I remembered my administrator account password incorrectly, but i still don't think that's it.

Thanks alot wolluf!

Oh, thank you haaba for the link too. I learned something!
