Glen,
That would seem the logical and easy choice. However, I only have Win2K SBS at my disposal. I'm taking Microsoft's word for it that you cannot go NT to W2K-SBS.
Thanks for the help.
Hi all,
I've inherited a problem...
The short version is, I have to move data from an NT network to a Win2K Small Business Server network. User profiles do NOT have to be moved (new profiles for all). According to Microsoft, I cannot convert NT to W2K-SBS. I have two options: move only the...
lj,
I think I am also in the boat! I have an added twist that perhaps you or others can assist me with.
Here's the story...
I am replacing the current NT4.0 PDC and 2 BDC's with one WIN2K server. I obviously need to move the user data and many files over, but I also need to change the...
You should certainly be able to connect via VPN, however, remember that it is only as fast as your SLOWEST upload speed overall. Also, drop that another 10 to 15% depending on how much encryption is used. It is quite slow for file transfers. It may work well enough for you if you are running...
Glen,
Sorry to hear that. Sounds like your boss is, shall we say, less than literate with computers and electronics.
The final decision is not yet made, but the input is very much appreciated.

Need some expert advice...
We are replacing 3 old Compaq servers (NT 4.0 sp6) with a single Win 2K Server. The selection is down to Dell or Gateway. This is primarily a file server that also handles RAS connections (via Internet-no modems). Applications are rarely run from the server, but...
LATech,
You should be able to go to the TCP/IP properties of your network card and under IP Address select Advanced. Then ADD a second IP address (and subnet) to the NIC. Very easy operation. A reboot will be needed.
This may not apply depending on the router you have, but...
Do you have a cable connected to the port next to the uplink? They are often shared, and only one can be used at a time.
CDudd,
If I understand you correctly, you want to have your friend set-up a dail-in VPN connection to your VPN server over the internet. With that being the case, he simply dials with your fixed IP on the internet as the destination. On your end, he needs to be authorized to connect via...
Sourabh1,
As MWM politely put it...dump the SBC software. I've had problems occur when using a router on a machine with their software installed. You no longer need it since the router handles the PPPoE connection chores. The VPN drop may or may not be related to the software, but doesn't...
