Are you getting * next to job id #s??? If so you may have corruption...See if you can do the merge cat.exe from the arcserve directory. If it runs quickly and nothing appears to happen check the temp directory and see if you have catalog files in there. You may have corruption check out this...
Hi we do ALOT of restores from tape. We rely a great deal on the version history. We recently set up a new backup server and mirrored it after our other one. Now our version history on the old server stays keeps all the history from the beginning of that servers life.

I am exp. some issues after applying SP4 one is that we will sometimes get a client busy and the backup will fail when nothing else to do with CA is running on that box, we have also noticed that we are having problems with restores because of the same error or we are getting a time out error on...
I was wondering what the overall concensus was on Veritas Netbackup. We are working towards purchasing a new product and would like some feedback. We are currently using CA's AS2000, but since this will be used for multi platforms now we are combining efforts...Any feedback is welcome
Try just merging a certain session and see if that works for you...it may be a pain if you have a lot of sessions, but we do this once in awhile to save time...
You may want to try NT backup to get the backup and see if that works. If it does it is something to do with ARC. They will tell you to try this if you call.
PS We don't even use ARC to backup our exchange boxes because of issues. We know do a NT backup and then backup that file to tape with...
we had a similar issue a while back. We were running Exch 5.5 on WIN2k and we had these errors and no backups. We found out one of the mailboxes was corrupted. After our exchange guru fixed the mailbox we had successful backups. please note there were errors in the exch. logs I believe as well...

Okay we have AS2K on Win2K and only maxing @ 100 mb a min. This is really slow compared to our other box. we are directr SCSI connected to a IBM Ultrium 3583 LTO Library. We have switched cables, switched libraries to no avail. We have tried SP3 and SP4. The only thing left is trying a new box...
I have noticed this with AS2K as well when we run a merge and do not immed. schedule a restore the next day the records will disappear. Did you check to see what your prune job is set to?
I have to say that is an amusing error. To bad we as humans did not have the same error pop up.
I wouldn't use a to tape more than a year of continous use.
Okay anyone else expericing issues when trying to get an old copy of SP3? Ours says it is corrupt when I apply it as well as if I try and down load it again from CA....
