I am having a similar problem.. We are trying to change our users from Administrator privelages to Power user, but I every time I test, Internet explorer wont browse the net. It will go to the first page because it is cached. Nowhere else.

Yap. latest antivirus software. Thankfully, I am pretty much the only one here at work with the most harmful abilities. (althought they are not used that way) I tried the idea of a virus, but it doesn't seem to react in a way that would do that. I happen to think this is a registry thing...
For some reason... about every week or so.. this computer produces a new profile for a user that already has a profile on the computer. So far it has made 4 new profiles and we just keep moving their data to the new profile or we delete all profiles, make a new one and move their data to that...
Well I did both.. installed the newest non-beta 4 in 1 drivers and installed all patches and service packs for Win 2k and it still hangs... ugh.

I never had this issue before until I re-installed Windows 2000 server onto my new computer..
Asus KT7-133
Duron 850 mhz
It is very wierd, but sometimes my usb just hangs and I have to restart to get my usb mouse back... (and anything else that I may have connected to usb at the time.)...
Here is what my friend writes:
It's done through policy editor....it's a domain-side thing. You set the
default user policy, and the first time they log on, it sets to a default
wallpaper you choose. Once you install NT4's admin tools, the file you run
is called "poledit.exe"
I hope...
I am almost 100 percent sure that is a registry setting, I just dont know where.
I have emailed one of my friends/co-workers about this.. I will get back to ya if he gives me an answer.
Thanks

I have seen posts in the past, asking for the basics about IIS. I found this link which may prove helpful.
This is for installation and setup of IIS on Win2k Professional.

I would like to know how you even change the folder icon at all. I cannot find any way to change the icon for folders period.
Thanks for the info.

I know that you can go in the registry.. search for wallpaper and change the setting to a certain wallpaper..
Example:
[HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop]
"Wallpaper"="C:\\Documents and Settings\\dave_gregory\\Application Data\\Microsoft\\Internet Explorer\\Internet...
Heh.. true.
I think installing is pretty basic..
MY problem is the following:
1. Making IIS 5.0 on Win2k Professional host more than one website.
2. Setting up and IP range for websites. ie.. www.abc.com on 111.11.111.1 and www.def.com on 111.11.111.2
3. are these two questions...
ShackDaddy.
Thanks for the information bro.
Regarding: "I haven't done this with W2KPro, but I don't know why it should be any different there."
Win2k is limited to one website by default. I am looking for a way to get two or more websites on Win2k.
If anyone else figures out...
