I found the answer. Because ADP's use a nonstandard ADO provider (msdatashape), you can't modify the cursor location of the currentproject's connection at all. You can create a separate connection that uses the normal ADO provider that will let you specify cursor location. Details are here...

I'm not sure what the problem was, but I got it working. I created a new form and it didn't have the same problem. So I just made the new form just like the old form, deleted the old form, and renamed the new form to have the name of the old form. All's fine now.

Can't help you with your problem, but just wanted to clarify that Yes/No fields in Access have a true value of -1 and a false value of 0, _not_ 1 for true and 0 for false. I assume it stays the same if the field is defined as boolean and doesn't formally get registered as a Yes/No data type.
