    Reading a tape

if you have access to their commserve you could potentially use the commcell migration feature to import certain clients that are associated with that tape. if no access then you would need to look into using media explorer - or potentially a third party.

    E-mail migrator OWA

hhhmmm So i'm assuming that the re-install didn't fix the problem...? Does it make any difference what server you point the owa client to? What if you point owa to connect directly to the backend server?

    E-mail migrator OWA

You may need to consider installing/configuring the exchange web proxy agent for exdm. http://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/release_6_1_0/qinetix_books_online/english_us/deployment/install/dm_webproxy.htm

    Brocade Switch

I'm fairly certain there is a way to do this by connecting directly to the mainboard inside the switch via serial cable - I just googled and got this back for the 2400..... http://www.filibeto.org/sun/lib/nonsun/brocade/manuals/refmanual/9846182982400.pdf In the event that a user changes a...

Seeing More Disks than Allocated in Win2K3 Disk Admin

this is normal - you'll need a client side utility like powerpath or similiar for failover, etc.

    SP3

me too - i'm seeing an issue now where job failures are being reported that don't actually exist. i'm getting sql backup failures on my exchange clients and its logging an error that says "Data is missing for job [435245]: getPath(..) failed." I'm planning on rolling sp3 today or tomorrow but...

    Log files - 82GB

are all of the stores mounted? in order for the logs to be truncated all info stores must be mounted at the time of backup. - there should be an associated err in the app evt log that gives some details on why the truncation didn't happen....

    problems after 6.1 upgrade

well - i guess i should've checked this beforehand - but the reason the alerts were failing is because commvault is not adhering to smtp specs and is sending bare linefeeds. We had this problem in 5.9 and a patch was issued - we were also told that the fix was already rolled into 6.1. Thankfully...

    problems after 6.1 upgrade

I just upgraded the CS and MA's to 6.1. So far i've noticed the following problems: 1. Mediamanager is crashing (drwtsn) on the CS. 2. None of the alerts/reports that are scheduled to be sent are going through. Fails with error "7416 10d4 08/24 11:00:29 ###### mailRpt::send() - error to send...

I've found the reporting system to be incredible. Most of my reports finish in under 24 hours - its wonderful.

    SAN Backup Software

Veritas is the leader - worth a look. As tim28375 said - its emc - u should check out what they are doing with networker for the full one stop shopping experience (LOL) Bakbone sound interesting - although im unfamiliar Connvault requires a media license - doesn't sound like it meets your needs

    CommVault Galaxy Reovery?

I use CV - commvault has their pluses and minuses - Veritas has the market share - which means that most people in your position choose veritas. If you need something solid and proven go with Veritas - if you can withstand some shakiness every now and again go with CV

    Backups through firewall

This is hilarious. we've been doing FW backups for a while now - if i remember correctly the installer and the documentation both state that you need to open additional ports - CV support shouldn've been all over this. It'd be great to find out who you were working with on this - especially if...
