If might also look for a ethernet card with an aui port and a 10mb fiber tranceiver. I have a few, but none to spare. If you want to go that route, I can contact the person I bought mine from to see if he has any more.
According to the cisco web site, it was introduced at 12.1, but only for some hardware (none that I have, unfortunately):
•Catalyst 5000 family ATM modules
•Catalyst 6000 family ATM modules
•Catalyst 6000 family switches
•Catalyst 8510 switch routers
•Catalyst 8540 switch routers
•Cisco ONS...
You can connect two cisco routers (IOS 11.1+) via a rollover/null modem cable between their aux ports and set up serial WAN links between them. Good to get one more connection into a test lab, or as a temporary expedient if a serial port fails. Note that what number the virtual async line gets...
Well, I zoomed in on 3COMs PDF file for the V.35 connector, and there is no pin "Q" so it must be a typo. Once I figure out how to configure the serial ports, I guess i'll just try using a cisco cable, unless i hear otherwise first.
touch reconfigure (as root from /) and rebooting is not sufficient?
Or executing drvconfig?
Unless there is something special involved in the backplane install (like needing a new driver for the scsi interface) that is normally all that is needed.
I bought Netbuilder superstack II 222 and a 442. I found documentatin for the 222 and for a 441 on the 3com website, but not for the 442. Does anybody know if it is there somewhere? Thanks.
Are the DB60 cables the same as Cisco uses? I compared the published wiring for V.35 DTE cables and they were the same EXCEPT that Cisco had their DB60-17 going to V.35-S and 3com had DB60-17 going to V.35-Q. Maybe S and Q are normally connected together inside the V.35 device? Or one is a...
To ImpetusEra: If you meant me, thanks, my router has the software, I'm looking for documentation
To topmail: do you have documentation on CD or just software?
Basically, I have found a few manuals (for the hardware) on the 3com website, but I'm not sure how to identify the correct manual(s)...
Two options:
1. Look for a 2514 router which has two ethernet ports.
2. If you get a second 2501, you will also need a DB60-DB60 DCE/DTE crossover cable.
What PC memory types can be used in 2500 and other routers?
I bought some SDRAM on EBAY for my 2500s, it works fine, and I suspect it was PC memory not specifically CISCO approved memory. I also have numerous rams left over in PCs and probably PCs on the shelf I could take ram from....
Same...
Wow, I've never heard of an IOS that old. If you can TFTP it to a PC, I'd be interested in a copy, just as a collectors item, or if its on a ROM chip instead of a FLASH (supposedly ROMS existed, and I've never seen one, so maybe 9.1 is old enought to be ROM?) and you buy a new FLASH, I'd be...
Using an interface or ip address will affect the metric of the route, probably doesn't make any difference. Using an ip address will mean one more table look up, since THAT ip addres will have to be resolved to an interface. Probably doesn't make much difference unless you have large routing...
I just received a superstack 442 and a 222. I found this forum looking for how to reset the password, so I've onlyu been her for an hour or so. Topmail--I couldn't find a way to contact you privately, but if the CD you have has documentation on it, if I could get a copy too, I would love it...
