Bad info in the .inf file??? Perhaps not, W2k can be very fussy about installing cards, particulary the second time after an incomplete installation the first time. I want to make certain that you are using a proper W2k driver. It appears that you are installing a Netgear FA311 NIC, but maybe...
...you done any testing beyond the uninstall program? I will suggest that you build a fresh install of W2k and use windiff to map the winnt directory*, install your program and remap using windiff, then compare the results. Next step would be to run the uninstall program and run windiff again...
Make certain that you have the latest driver. My research on this issue shows that this device was only tested with W2k beta 2 and no certified drivers were released by the manufacturer. The reseller, or whomever, may have some updated drivers for you.
As of this day, the NIC is on the hardware...
Yep, you will do some damage, but it is easily fixed.
After you reinstall Win98, boot from the W2k CD and do a repair installation, this will repair the boot.ini file and anything else that is missing. Just don't mess with the partitioning scheme or W2k might not find the existing installation...
Then you could do this with ADSI and any number of scripting languages including VB and PERL. If you have a W2k Server, you already have ADSI version 2.5
Interface presents user with boxes for username, password and desired password with some sort of submit button. When the user clicks on...
Yeah, I think shovel204 is on to something here. I have found that W2k will not grab that file off of drive A if a similar file exists in the inf dir, usually wrapped in a .inf file. In the end though, I think you may need to set the system to allow the verbose installation of unsigned drivers...
If this means that the DOS program is attempting to write to a swap file in memory, then perhaps changing the memory size allocation will help.

I got ya, but there still needs to be some mechanism on the server that executes the batch file in the context of that server, e.g., remotely.
So you need something like a web server with ASP that will host a function to call the batch file in the context of the server. So you could write a ASP...

The tone of your words is rather mocking. Consider that your app runs on a non-DOS system, period. That fact alone is remarkable to some extent. I will suggest that the problem is not Windows 2000, but a lack of understanding on how to configure the OS.
W2k has very good DOS support, better...
If you don't care about the data, just boot to the W2k disk and do a repair installation. When you get done with the part where you delete and/or reformat the partition, just exit the setup program or turn the computer off.
All will be gone, the OS, all your DATA, so be certain of this... Tao...
Yes, Application.Username is going to return the name of the person who installed or owns the software. You will need to set a reference to the Active DS Type Library and look for the object: IADsUser in the Object Browser. Tao is the mobius. The ribbon of heaven and earth, you cannot lose your way.

WinVNC is as close as you will get, lucky for you it is pretty good. http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/winvnc.html
But it won't do what you want. You stated that you want to start a batch file on this PC and have the CPU of another computer finish...
Check for some regular activity in the task manager. Something is grabbing the I/O channel and that must be reflected in some CPU usage.
Good luck,

Since I assume that you do not have a WINS server or Active Directory running... You will need to modify the host file on each client to map entity names to IP addresses. The clients can't find the target so they broadcast.
My best guess.
Good luck,
