    can't delete footnotes

sksw, what is your ultimate goal with the document? are you trying to get rid of all the footnotes or change/edit them? If you are just trying to delete them, have you tried a program such as Notestripper? It will strip out all the footnotes or endnotes, break the links, and make them text...

    Quark 6 won't open Quark 5 files

Can I post the answer my own question? if so, I found deep within another thread not specifically realated to my problem a suggestion from "LauraK" a while back: The importing old QXP docs has a weird fix. Go to the Print Center and make a fake IP printer with the address 127.0.0.1...

    print window in OSX

It took me forever to figure this out after making the switch to OSX: In your Applications folder, under Utilities, there is a program called "Grab". This will do screen captures. It actually gives you more control than the old method.

    Quark 6 won't open Quark 5 files

oops, the G5 must be in my dreams... a brand new G4 running OSX (10.2.8), Quark is marketing 6.0 for this very operating system. The error code is "unknown error [-9589]" I've seen a few other people on related sites with the same problem. No one has a solution and reports Quark tech...

    Quark 6 won't open Quark 5 files

I'm running a brand sparkling new G5 with OSX. Our copy of Quark 6.0 won't open any older files. Even if I created the file in 6 and down-saved as 5; after I close and try to open, it still won't work. I get an unknown error code. I've try completely uninstalling and reinstalling Quark twice...

    can't delete footnotes

Okay everyone, after hours of investigation.... The "Track Changes" feature was enabled, but not showing the highlights. Because of this, changes to the footnote section and any renumbering would not occur, but you couldn't see WHY. Everything behaves the way it should with regards...

    can't delete footnotes

No. Footnote number in the text deletes, but the footnote number and reference (if you View/Footnotes) doesn't delete. IF I try to delete it in the Footnote view manually, I get an error msg: This is not a valid action for Footnotes.

    can't delete footnotes

I have an author's Word 2000 document with many footnotes set up to number continuously. If I try to delete one, by going into the text, selecting the note number, and hitting delete, it only takes away the number in the text and won't delete (or let me delete) the actual footnote text it is...

    Locking Numbering

So sad! I saw your post was from Feb. so I hoped maybe you had some luck. At least I feel better that I am not missing something obvious. I am working with a HUGE table, so there is no way around it right now. Thanks. I will keep searching...

    numbered lists numbers

I can use the style to easily get the numbering. But after I have my numbers in place, I don't want the numbers to change if I re-sort the list. For example, if I have: 1. apple 2. bear 3. car and I shuffle my list, the numbers want to stay in the same order, not stay with their original word...

    numbered lists numbers

I'm using Word 2000. I have some long lists in a table that I need to number automatically. If I use the numbering button or insert/field/number, the numbers want to stay sequential. Normally this is a good thing for a list, BUT after I apply the numbering to the list, I then need those numbers...

    pulsating pointer hell

Illustrator 8-Mac: I'm having a problem with more than one workstation in my office. Illustrator's pointer pulses between active mode and busy mode continuously, as if it is processing something. It does this whether you have a document open or not and begins when the program starts. This...
