I've had the same problem cpaul123 is having. Here was my situation:
Open a file off of a network share -- file opens normally.
Save the file to the same location -- get the error cpaul123 sees.
Save the file to another location (Save As...), i.e. desktop -- saves with no problems.
The user...
I'm a newbie to Linux, and have what is probably a straight forward question.
How can you tell what verison of a given software package is running if you don't use a package manager (like RPM) to install it? I've installed OpenSSH using a tarball, and I want to be able to produce something for...
Thanks for the tip, Michael. It does give good info on rack-mounted equipment, which gets me closer than I was before. Unfortunately we've got some legacy dell towers, as well as non-Dell equipment. But as a ballparking tool, it will work pretty well.
For what it's worth, I haven't heard...
Thanks, NickFerrar. I've sent off a question to my account rep as well.
I'm amazed at how difficult it is to find this information, considering all these servers are going into a room that probably has a dedicated environmental system. You'd think it would be easier to find this stuff so you...
We're laying the groundwork for upgrading the AC unit for our computer room. I'm trying to find heat dispersion information for our servers, with no luck. I can't find the info on any exposed surface of the servers, in any documentation we got, or on Dell's website. I've got a calculation...
OK, I've checked the directory that the source rpm expanded into, as well as the independent tar.gz file, and I can't see any file (executable or otherwise) where I can configure the package. This is getting quite frustrating...
Thanks for your quick response.
I'm following the instructions in the readme that came with the drivers. I've never had to do this manually before. This should be fun...
...runs for several lines (making temp dirs and such) then gets to this line:
make -C SUBDIRS=/usr/src/packages/BUILD/bcm5700-7.3.5 module
make: *** SUBDIRS=/usr/src/packages/BUILD/bcm5700-7.3.5: No such file or directory. Stop
I don't know if it's trying to create a directory called module...
Eric,
Thanks for your quick reply. Like I said, I'm a newbie, so these next questions will be pretty basic...
Do you mean download the .src.rpm package? If so, I know where to get that. If not, where can I find the source?
What steps are involved in recompiling? Is there a tutorial or...
...other packages, etc. etc.)
As a first step, I found what I thought were the right glibc packages, tested the install, and then ran
rpm -Uvh glibc*
This worked without issue. However, I now can't add or remove other RPMs. I can query, test, etc., but if I try to install, update, or remove...
We contacted by Dell for a similar problem on our 6300. They supplied a CD set for flashing all of the components on our system, and the problem was corrected.
Full disclosure: our specific error was E0212 VOLT CPU VRM, so the solution may not be the same. Still, Xenoncj's approach is worth a...
Depending on what you're trying to send, I doubt you'll see a significant improvement in compression between WinZip and anything else.
By significant, I mean more than a 10-15% size difference in the compressed file, and what difference will it make if the final file is 200 MB or 240 MB...
We're running BAB 11 on a Dell PowerVault system. We're backing up to hard drive, then copying the backups to tape. We're then over-writing the backups on hard drive every week. This works great for us.
Today I had to restore a file off of the tape copy for the first time. I was expecting...
The FAQ solution from CA's website seems to have fixed the problem. I'm not sure what that DLL is, and why renaming it helped. A new file wasn't created.
I'll update if the problem comes back. Thanks for your feedback, davidmichel
I just found the following on the CA website:
Q: The last result of the Backup Job states crashed.
When checking the TSKEPT logs in the BAB\Log folder , the cause of the Exception is - ASRBCKUP.DLL.
A: Stop all ARCserve Engines and rename the file ASRBCKUP.DLL which will be in the folder -...
Davidmichel,
OK, I put the job engine in debug, and got what I consider to be no help whatsoever. The backup job begins pretty normally, selects the backup media, and begins writing the job:
Writing BackupExtendedSessionHeader...
Wrote file header for extended session header. Stream data...
We're running BAB 11 on a Dell PowerEdge NAS and tape backup. I have two backup rotations defined, one for user data and one for images, both scheduled to run Tues. - Fri. am (differential) with a full backup on Saturday. (The jobs are set to run 6 hours apart, so there's no conflict with the...
We are using Arcserve 11 and a Dell Powervault to perform backups to "virtual tapes" (directories), then performing a tape-to-tape copy to put the backup onto actual tapes.
I'm not forcing compression on the virtual tape (something I may institute soon). As a result, the tape to tape copy is...
