Hi,
I have updated my auto_direct on my NIS server. But if I do /etc/init.d/autofs stop and start and then cd that directory it doesnt mount it. It only mounts it after a reboot. Can anybody tell me how to do this without a reboot.
Thanks,
Micha

Hi,
You have to cahnge 3 different files.
1. /etc/hosts
2. /etc/nodename
3. /etc/hostname.(interface)
To find out which network interface you are using you ust use the ifconfig -a command and it will print the network information.

Hi
You have to check 2 things:
1. what are the permissions on /usr/local/bin/gzip. Make sure they are executable.
2. Make sure the /usr/local/bin is in your path.

Hello
From the command line there is no other way of doing it. Unless you actually edit the tables in your NIS directory. There are a few different tools where you can edit files that are not in /etc. One of those tools is webmin. There you configure the location of your NIS tables.
Good Luck...

Hello
The actual server has to be a solaris server (sparc or intel). Even though the filesystem that holds the image of the disks can be mounted on a remote system that is not a solaris mchine.
