I am going to the OpenBoot and running the "ok boot cdrom". Following the menus, I setup Language, Locale, Term, etc etc Network, DNS, Time... Then it goes into a PANIC [cpu0]/thread 300011bd280: Bad Trap: type=31.

It defaults to a normal boot off of the boot disk. I never get to the Solaris Interactive Installation.

Any Ideas?

Solaris 9 running on a Sunfire V100. I am re-createing my system as recommended in Thread "Jumpstart vs. Normal installation".

HI

It looks to me like a hardware problem. Does the machine boot from the disk.

It boots without a problem off of the internal disk drive. When I look at Types from the OpenBoot, there is no type 31. It jumps over that one. I tried doing resets and so forth.

We have an installation CD that I hear in not recommended to use. I was going to try booting and installing with that one as a last ditch.

Just a thought... I would have expected this problem to have been fixed by Solaris 9, but try typing limit-ecache-size at the OK prompt before booting. Annihilannic.

No longer a valid command..... limit-ecache-size. I initially used the same CD to install the system. Due to my mistakes in setting up the filesystems, I am looking to re-install from scratch.....

Talked with Solaris support and it turns out when I used Disk Suite to mirror my filesystems including root, it messed up the re-install. I booted from CD in single user mode, ran format, selected the default boot drive, selected p for partition and set the start cyl. to zero for a size of zero on all except for 2. Saved my changes and then exited out of single user mode. It then continued to boot off of the cdrom and I was able to do a "normal" install and customize my file partitions. All is well now.......

Thanks for all the suggestions.
