Hello, I just installed Solaris 8 on a new server and configured it to be the NIS master. I can run ypwhich, ypcat passwd and other yp commands on both the server and workstation's without any issues.

If I try to login as a user I can only do it from the server though!??? If I try to login from the CDE on a workstation it says "Invalid Login". I made sure to push the NIS maps etc. (/var/yp/make etc.).

Can anyone give me any suggestions on to debugging this?

Thanks very much,

Hi

Check the /etc/nsswitch.conf file. To see where it looks for the maps.
