The ports connecting the unified and the 4500 need to be tagged for VLAN 5. The other "client access" ports on either switch would be untagged access for VLAN 5.
I think it's pretty lame Netgear limited the firmware so that you can only create rules for the subnet of the LAN interface and nothing else. If you haven't replaced the thing yet and you don't often need to modify the rules for the y.y network you can momentarily change the LAN subnet mask to...
Thanks, lots of good points. I've always done my installations with a separate partition for important data. Just made it quicker to do a fresh OS install and not have to shuffle around pics, mp3s and documents.
Raid 1 has been my plan from the start for the sata drives as the board only...
I've got some new parts on order and wondering how to best make use of a pair of 200GB IDE drives from the old system. One thing I wanted with the new was mirroring so I ordered two 250GB sata drives for that purpose. Now performance wise would it make sense to split the sata mirror into two...
Could anyone with access to one of these units tell me if they can hear a buzzing noise coming from it. I'm trying to determine if it's normal or defective. It appears to be working fine though. Thanks.
In event viewer it's listed under system log as removeable storage service events.

I have an enclosure with the cypress at2+ and windows has no problem detecting it or whatever device is installed within the enclosure. Only windows 98 requires installation of a driver. Make sure your jumper settings on the drive is set for master. I'm not sure if it will work properly on...
You'd need to use port forwarding in the router to send the packet to a computer. Since it sounds like you need to wake more than one at a location you'd need to assign each one a different port and set that in the routers forwarded ports and use the following software...
It absolutely will slow down things for the other users. Three employees listening to 128Kbps streams will saturate the 384Kb bandwidth. There's software you can get that will work with your router to have a better view of who is using the internet most for what. You could then warn...
It shouldn't format on a reboot. After pressing the button on the side there is a command in there that will allow you to configure it to format and load a boot.68k from tftp. The option for a bootp may be in the same spot so you'd need to delete the address for it if it has one. You could...
Been a while since I've seen one but on the left side should be a hole that you'll see a momentary push switch in. Poke it with a paperclip while in a telnet session and you'll be able to set it up to recieve a boot.68k file via tftp. You'll first need to specify the tftp server address and...
Redo the ends of the cable and if still doesn't work replace the whole cable. I ran into the same issuse when trying to squeeze a run in with a few others and ended up breaking a wire or something. It worked fine after I redid the ends.
