We run Oracle on HP and are quite pleased over a period of time with performance and stability as well as database tools and support. I have also worked with Oracle on Sun - also quite good. Don't know first hand about IBM platforms. As far as specs for an HP/Oracle server for your situation, we...
That article was well worth the reading. Thanks!
I was also wondering about reports I've heard of MS-SQL Server (and/or MS-Windows) instablility, and that the system had to be re-booted every so often to keep it from crashing unexpectedly. Operationally, this is scary. You would think that...
If you are using Oracle applications, you might want to look into Oracle Applications Desktop Integrator. Our accounting people use ADI all the time to upload spreadsheets directly to Oracle Apps.
We also are looking into JDE solutions, so my opinions are based on research, not experience. Having said that, my impression so far is that OneWorld's HTML client consumes major bandwidth, perhaps due to the use of client side Java instead of server side Java. If my information is correct, your...
Whether the URL is local or out on the web, would not a browser based viewer be able to place a cookie on the user's machine that could automatically be updated and checked as the student progresses?
First let me say thanks, how much I appreciate your efforts!
I got an e-mail today: It seems that JDE folks will be in here later this week for a demo. The timing of this dialog couldn't be better. It's not that I don't trust sales people, it's just that I tend to be much more emprical that...
Deployment: I had the applications server part of the funtionality on the Enterprise server confused with the Deployment server. That Deployment server sounds like a neat idea - to have a management and control point for the whole installation.
Enterprise: This is the piece that has the...
Thanks! Actually, we are currently running and older version of Oracle apps on Oracle database, so we have significant resources in house as far as Unix/Oracle database server is concerned. Migrating to JDE means a whole new architecture. Maybe it's not this simple, but with JDE products...
If you are working with Concurrent Manager, a lot of FND_whatever stuff is documented in Oracle Application Object Library Reference Manual, and in Oracle Application Object Library Technical Reference Manual.
Maybe you don't care to deal with operating system issues, but if you just want a "sandbox" to go play in while you are learning, you can run Oracle on Linux on a PC at home pretty cheap. The newer linux's aren't that difficult to get up and running.
I don't know of a way from within the report runtime to do this, unless in the AFTER REPORT trigger see if there is a way to (conditionally) re-start the report before it exits.
The report runtime (R25RUN32.EXE) can be run from a DOS prompt or BAT file in batch mode with parameters. Kind of a...
I'm curious to know if anyone is running OneWorld with at least 300-400 users, and what your experiences are with scaling the servers properly. Our database server platform has not been chosen yet, but all three possiblities have been discussed.
Some database vendors have functions that will allow you to do this. What database are you running?
I'll revisit this thread to see if anyone else knows how to do this in "ANSI" SQL.
