One questions, what is the speed of the modems at your university? If their speed is only 28.8k, it won't matter if yours is 56k, yours will only go as fast as the modem on the other end. Have you tried connecting to the Internet, what speed do you connect at there?
I've wondered the same thing. According to Palm's website though, there is no way to do this from the Palm. They suggest the only way to do it is from the PC end.
