Look at the properties of your media sets. What is the overwrite protection period set to? Also, you said this is a new install on a new server. Does veritas recognise the tapes? If so simply drag the tape from all media into scratch media. if this wont work you will need to do an inventory...
You will need to partition your slots in order to do that. how many tape drives are in the machine? also set your media to not appendable this will not allow any other jobs to write to the tape untill they have reached the end of the overwrite period.
If it states the directory doesn't exist then it more than likely doesn't. check to see \\server\"dollar share"\sys or whatever local it says to see if it really is there. i have to do this every once and a while and then deselect the directory from the job description esp...

Backupexec is looking for "\Registry\C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile", does this exist? I doubt that it does, search your computer for it, search the registry for it. If it truely doesn't exsist then go to your job definition and de-select it to make the error go away.
I had the same problem. All media was being marked as bad media. I cleaned the drives several times and finally it recognized the media. but i guess you said that your drives are new? if the drives are new i would upgrade to the latest build of backup exec.
