Hey, I'm going to try using my pix 515E. I wasnt' getting in lights with either the x-over or a Cat 5 cable. I have not tried a straight through.
I want to connect my pix which would be the ideal situation that way I can put my web server on a DMZ.
Colin how is your pix configured...
Does anyone have a cisco router connected to a cable modem? I'm having trouble creating a connection to the internet.

I hear where your coming from. I've just found a "networking" job. All I did for three years was networking. When I was looking for a job they wanted someone with Sql, Microsoft and server administration. Never done either. You have I.T experience and your CCNA and I wouldn't see why you can't...
Hey thanks fella's. I was just curious as I've never worked in a hosting environment. I have the networking experience including pix. I just thought maybe there might be some trick questions.
Tek-tips has helped my out before in the pass! Thanks again guys.

Sorry so long on the reply fellows. Hey lash, I'm trying to study for the NP and the CSSP at the same time. Well I'm actually reading BSCI and studying CSPFA (pix). I have some pix experience but not much. Just enough to have me interested in CCSP and making the big bucks. My prep is cool, I...
I have an interview w/ a hosting company today. The position is Network Engineer. What technical questions can I expect for them to ask?
Thanks..

An Engineer told me to submit a request for addresses. I have 51 host, router int, 2switches, the P2P link and the loopback. That give me give me 57 ip addresses. So I would order a /26. He said I would have to scope it myself has anyone heard of scoping addresses before?

Didn't know which forum to post this so, sorry.
I heard a term today call "flash cut" and it was pertaining to networking or building networks.
I heard it from a CCIE. What's a flash cut?

Yeah, I would love to see someone attempt to take the CCIE hands-on lab (and pass) with out the written exam. Trust me, you know a CCIE when you speak to one; even if they're not a very great CCIE. I'm just a CCNA (working on NP) so all those guys are Network gods to me!!!
If you want the certs...
Yep!! It pisses me off to know that, you can get certs that way. What really erks me???? They offer CCIE, well they offer pretty stunt all the Cisco courses.
Hopefully, Cisco and Microsoft will crack down and pull certs from individuals.

Have any one heard of this www.examshots.com ? I found it to be kinda strange for you to be able to pass an exam and not sit for the test. From what I understand you pay so much money and they/whoever takes the test for you. So much for the guys who spend months of studying getting jobs...
Well, I was hoping to pull an ip from vlan 2. I don't think I should have to set up dhcp on the router though

Ok. I see. So I can create 10 vlans on a layer 2 switch that't trunked to a router, but on the router I would need to create 10 subint for each vlan.
But how would the vlan know which interface to pull the ip address from? "encap dot1q vlan 3 native", maybe?
Eric - A+, Net+, INet+ CCNA...
Once you configure a VLAN on a switch, where does that vlan get it's ip from? Do you use a router or RSM card and creat vlan interfaces with an ip address range?
thx
