Just to add to what Fuego007 said earlier about renaming the Directory Name, to use the second stage of the merge you will need to rename the pst file to be the same as the new directory name for the import to work.
Can you use a drive mapped to another server for the defrag?
It seems to me that the people most likely to need to perform a defrag to reclaim disk space are unlikely to have space equal to 110% of their priv.edb available.
Sorry to append to your thread but I am having exactly the same issue and error messages. At least yours gets to 4%, mine stops at 1%.
HP DL380 G4 W2K SP4 Brightstor r11.1 build 3060 backing up to an HP Ultrium 460 drive.
I have disabled the device in device manager and restarted server.

The server in question has dual nics. File and print sharing and Client for Microsoft Networks had been unchecked on one of the adapters as a fix for another issue (conflict between the 2 cards). Reinstating these on the secondary nic has made the shared resources browsable once more. Await...
riwa, I have exactly the same problem with 1 W2000 server in our mixed domain. The shared resources on the server were browsable before but now are not and nothing (to my knowledge) changed.
I will update this thread if I come across a solution.
Actually, re-reading your post I realise that your situation was very different.
You were doing a complete rebuild which prompts the question why were you doing brick level restores? You needed to do a DR recovery (in which there are plenty of threads on this board and some FAQ's).
However...
Kevstar, probably a bit late for you but I have had the same problem this week and believe I have an answer that might have worked for you.
Merge the tape into the database.
Sounds stupid but it worked for me although the tape I was restoring from was still in the database (it was only 2 days...
Exchange 5.5
We are using a csv file to import a copy of the GAL which has had Employee ID's added.
We have changed the CustomAttribute1 to be EmployeeID on all our Exchange Servers.
On the Bridgehead server GAL we can see all recipients in our Exchange organisation. However, on those...
Update: Reapplying Excg SP4 has cleared the large MTA files and stopped the MTA errors being written to the event log.

We still have the problems with users having messages stuck in their outboxes which cannot be sent/moved/deleted
Thanks Zbnet
I did run the ESEUTIL -p under advice. The space issues got so bad before we could stop the services neatly that the IS service stopped. Once we got some space back we were unable to restart the IS service. There appeared to be some corruption and on the first scan through...
...to see new messages coming in, but haven't received the ones that were sent whilst the system was down.
In the MTADATA folder there are 5 large db*.dat files, one of which is 1.2Gb in size. In the application Event log the following errors are being reported several times every second...
The answer is that you have to install using v9 media and then use the generated key(s) to license.
If you already have the product installed (as I did) you might need to do a complete uninstall before reinstalling as license utility wasn't recognising the new keys.
I have just received a copy of v11. Now, this doesn't work with NT so you have to generate a license key for v9 from the keys received for v11. This I have done.
However, when I go to install the product from the CD's supplied I cannot install the base product because it says it is not...
Just wanted to thank fuego007 for the excellent procedure he provided.
I used it last weekend and everything went very smoothly.
The server was also a BDC. We have not had one single issue arising from the migration which makes me and my boss very happy!
Thanks zbnet, I realise this.
I am building a new server to replace the old so I have the option of creating with the same name as the server I am replacing and forklifting the databases in, or building it with a new name to match the rest of the organisation.
My question is, can I forklift in...
A quick question on this:
I am planing to upgrade one of the NT4 servers running Exchange 5.5 in our organisation using Fuego007's method.
(Hardware upgrade only - the new server will still be an NT4 server running Exchange 5.5)
However, I would also like to rename the server to tie in with...
