Gilles,
Just to clarify, is this print job straight from Pagemaker as a .pmd, or once you have created a pdf of the document? I think Eggles is probably right in his assumption that it is most likely the printer. Have experienced similar difficulties, as above, but with reinstallation of...
Hi LMM,
Thanks for the post back. I'm really glad that it worked out for you.
Now you know why my signature line reads the way it does!!

Hi Simon WMC,
You could also try the following link - http://www.computerarts.co.uk/tutorials/type/tutorial.asp?id=20424
There's also a good PS tutorial in Special Photoshop issue 41 of the Computer Arts mag. if you can get your hands on it...

Hi LMM,
Sorry, it didn't work out. Good luck with the Gateway Goback. No, I have no idea what those messages refer to specifically. I can understand your frustration with this situation, but honestly, deleting photo editing and CD burning apps is not the solution. Once you get your system back...
Hi LMM,
Win98SE eh? Too bad. What was the previous OS that worked-WIN98? It seems that Win98SE does not handle TWAIN drivers at all well (who knew?), even to the extent of having to reinstall them from the cab file on the Win98 CD. What I could suggest for now is
1. Completely uninstall the...
Hi again,
As far as the specs are concerned, I was actually thinking more along the lines of the Operating system and motherboard type (to know the BIOS-is USB enabled in the BIOS?), just to make sure that we're all operating on the same wavelength.
It is possible that image viewing, such as...
Hi kondagaisoundar,
I did manage to find a PM script that will automatically put in the date and time of a document that perhaps you could run just before sending your print job to the printer, which may be close enough for what you have in mind. Of course, you'll have to update the document to...
Hi Losingmymind,
Please clarify one point for me, are you using a SmartMedia card reader (USB connected), as a removable drive, to read the photographs on the card, rather than using the camera/USB cable included with the camera? If not, then I certainly can recommend it as a better alternative...
John,
The problem with saving the table as an EPS, is that you cannot modify the table at will from the pmd document, as you can when saved in the .tbl format and inserted. I have yet to experience the problems that you mention when using a PS printer, rather the contrary, I had more problems...
Hi BigJohnD,
Sorry to disappoint you, John, but I create PDFs from the PM document containing tables created as I outlined in my earlier post no sweat...

Hi Johnderek,
I agree Adobe Table 3.0 is "sensitive", although I probably would have used a stronger word. This is one area where Adobe should have taken a leaf out of Microsoft's book, with their ease of table creation. Anyway, I have found that the best approach is to open the Table...
Hi Gary,
Glad to hear that you have at least some marginal success with your problem (or is that issue in Epson speak!). As you know I do have an ulterior motive for hanging in there, but I certainly do find this forum to be the greatest for people helping other people, and I try to help...
Gary,
Thanks. I don't recall offhand where I came across that info about the USB being non bidirectional, although I'm sure it was a reliable source, like a computer magazine or something similar. Anyway, will be looking forward to your future posting...

Gary,
Thanks for the update. I am, however, curious about one comment you made - The status monitor on my Epson 875 photo printer which is USB only works fine. Do you have this hooked up to your XP system or are you running it under another OS? As you know an earlier post of mine suggested that...
Hi Gekyruk,
You didn't mention it specifically, but are you using a USB connection, like Gary, or are you using a parallel connection? I don't think there's any doubt that it works for a parallel connection. The problem with USB under WinXP is that it does not support bidirectional activity...

Download this pdf. It'll help get you started. If you want more, try a Google search. There are dozens of tutorials available and even PS actions that will help you. If you make the effort to learn how to create this effect yourself from these tutorials, you'll feel a real sense of...
Hi Shirley,
I don't know if this will cure your problem, but it may help. Check out these two links. Also, once you get up and running, and I hope this does work for you, you can always test your system for viruses with Housecall (an online virus detection program from Trend Micro)(PC cillin)...
