Here is how we turn off printer notifications at work...maybe this can help point you in the right direction. This is for network printer.
Click on Start
Click on settings
Click on Printers and Faxes
Click on File
Click on Server Properties
Click on the Advanced Tab
There is an item "Show...
When loading applications on Citrix, if you need to install it for all users, you have to go to a command prompt and change the mode you are using.
For single user mode it is change user /install and for all user mode it is change user /exec (I think). I have only done this a couple of times...
Try this...let it load the 32-bit driver. Open the printer's properties. Click on the Sharing tab, you will see near the bottom a selection for Additional Drivers. Click on that and it will probably allow you to add the 64-bit driver as well.

In the Properties of your boss' printer, under the Sharing tab, is the printer set for "Share this printer" and have a share name associated with it. That would help make it accessible remotely.
We have a couple of people at our company that have printers attached locally and have this checked...
I'm uncertain if all laptops have this ability...our Fujitsu tablets have the ability to disable the touchpad while typing. This is set in the control panel under the mouse icon.

At my job, when we set up Bluetooth wireless printers in the Add New Printer Wizard...we click on local printer and uncheck the Plug and Play button. The Next screen lets us configure a new port. There may be a USB port in this list that you can try. I'm not sure if there is but it's the best...
