When making changes to a job the job must be resubmitted back into the queue for the job to be repackaged with the changes.
However to exclude data it is usually better to use a Filter.
A Failed backup status should only be when one session failed to backup. A backup that backs up each target but misses some files should result in an Incomplete Session and Job status.
This will not affect the ability to restore other data.

& since you will have to register anyways setup your MyCA page with ARCserve and your view will automatically have everything for ARCserve a click away.

I think you can do it with a path, Help has specific examples but it seems that Filters are kind of a black art. I suggest doing a Count job as a test. Quick Start > Utilities > Count and under Options set Job Log...
