    Annihilannic, The boards are switchable to/from. . flashupdate the proms for compatability . The slowest speed supported on the SF15K is 900Mhz -- the x800 does support 700 Mhz.

    dandan123 You are correct, the EEPROM will become a repository after you first enter the S/N by running sneep -s "S/N". It will eliminate making a S/N file! Some or all the high end servers have their S/N avaiable available thur the frame with the sc commands.

    Go to SunSolve and download SUNWsneep2.5_R1.76.tar. The program "sneep" will get the S/N. This will work on the V240,V210 & V440. You will have to manually get the S/N for the 3500. This is a package from Sun.

    I was told by a local Sun guy that Solaris 2.5,2.6 and 7 will require T&M from Sun. They will give you a temp license for 48 hrs. Contact Sun for assistance. patch 109809 is for Solaris 8.

    prtfru -x (seem man for prtfru) This command works only works with some systems. You might be able to gleam some info from the prtdiag -v command. Also if you can run luxadm fcode_download -p (will show the ISP type and then you can go to sunsolve or google and drill down some more)

    Do a man on isainfo and toward the bottom you will see an example of an "isainfo" command ran on a 64 bit SPARC processor running the 64-bit O/S. In your case you have a 64-bit processor which can run both 64 or 32-bit apps.

    If you run this command: ls -Ll /dev/rmt/1* (you can use any of the instances) The Major and Minor numbers are displayed. All instances which share the same minor numbers will have the same properties. 33,3165 (33 is the major number and 3165 is the minor number)
