I have a 5.8 server and have been told by EMC that one of the fiber cards is not talking to the Clarion. Is there a diag tool that I can run to test all hardware on the server and report problems?

Thanks

At the ok prompt you can use "probe-scsi-all" to basically check to see if the HBA is capable of seeing outward.

The probe-scsi-all can probe for fiber devices.

Be sure to set auto-boot? to false and then do a reset all
PRIOR to issuing the probe-scsi-all command. Afterward set auto-boot? to true.

If you are using luxadm you can do a luxadm probe from a Solaris prompt.

Thanks...

Is there a FRU (Field Replacement) number like in IBM and HP for parts? If so, how do I display it?

I am in GA and the server is in MO. Just cant walk up to it and take a look... Want to see if I can buy a used part via the internet if it is damaged....

prtfru -x (seem man for prtfru)

This command works only works with some systems.

You might be able to gleam some info from the prtdiag -v command.

Also if you can run luxadm fcode_download -p (will show the ISP type and then you can go to sunsolve or google and drill down some more)
