Do any of your PATH variable entries include spaces? I have seen this cause problems previously.

Hey Chris. Sorry about that, I don't really frequent this site as much as I should these days, but glad you got a solution. 2009 seems an age away doesn't it? I'm into my last 12 months before retiring, so if anyone knows of any Solaris/Oracle based part time stuff in and around Glasgow from...
Can you tell us what you did with tr that failed? You can replace characters using vi too if you wish.

I would only add that you should make your mantra 'check twice, press return once'. Best of luck!

Possibly, but if you're happy that these are false positives and there are no other issues, run the installer leaving out the prerequisite checks:
./runinstaller -ignoreSysPrereqs
Hope this helps.

Cron runs is a very minimal environment that has little or nothing to do with the user's own environment. The best strategy I find is to place all important PATH variables etc explicitly in the job being called (or in a 'wrapper' script used by cron to call the job after execution of the...

...I think you may be trying to create a root-equivalent account (with a UID of zero), which is something of a no-no in the Solaris and other *nix world for security reasons, and which is why sudo was created.

Good afternoon folks. I've followed the advice in:
http://dbaheaven.blogspot.co.uk/2010/04/disabling-single-sign-on-on-report.html

Consider putting in the full path to touch in too - cron gets huffy about that sometimes.

By 'back.script' do you mean a backup script which processes your backups and then notifies the email addresses you need to change? I think I'd copy the original file: cp -p <filename> <filename_copy> and then edit the original (using vi assuming you have a working knowledge of that?) to make...
