Skipvought, it is for me, plus I have a number if excel files and this is the obly one I'm having trouble with.

Using Window 7 pro and excel 2K, a particular spreadsheet will rename itself as an alphanumeric file with no extension (or at least it isnt displayed). When I attempt to save it I get a message " this file cant be saved, the name has been changed and can be found in the same location as...
so what I did was scroll over the whole worksheet to select, then copy and paste into a fresh sheet and the refresh didnt come with it So problem gone. thx for all the help

Thanks but I can't get the context menu with a right click for cut and the tool bar "cut" doesn't do it either. Its as if it isnt art of the worksheet.

I have a spreadsheet that has a picture of the word "Refresh" centered over Row 1 and Columns A and B. It is functional but I don't want it there and cant get rid of it.If I scroll down it stays in the same place on the sheet. If I insert a few lines in the sheet so I can see the data in rows...
OK, it was a hidden file. I went to file options and checked "show hidden file" Then AppData appeared. I followed the path above and there was that dirty dog! I deleted it and now the problem is gonzo.

using wf*.* I found "C:\Users\Al King\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office\Startup\WFWORD2K.DOT"
there is the same wfword2k.dot in the recycle bin, so it must be the same as wfwrd2k2.dot? Cant be. different spelling.
Anyway I was going to delete it but cant...
Found it, deleted it. No joy. Restarted. Its back, as you said, but problem still exists. I could only find that copy searching the entire drive including the backup.
