i dont think so since it is asking for the smtp user, not domain user. to authenticate to the smtp server would usually need the email address as user then the password. in addition the server is not part of a domain.

i know i didn't mention that, but i have always had the full username and password entered in the Avaya interface (not the command prompt). i double checked several times to ensure i have no typos in user/pwd.
