SPI33 - I was thinking along the same lines as GJP with my interpretation of your question. Do you mean virtual cubes or whether COGNOS can extract data from Essbase/DB2 etc?

You can't dynamically change the database that the report will use. However you can define it within Framework Manager. Under datasource in FM, you can change the database schema to the different systems you want. Or you can change the connection in Cognos Connection -> Directory -> Data...
Can I ask a silly question (or two):
- is the 'recalc(F9)' option selected in Excel?
- in Powerplay : what is the setting on EXPLORE>GET DATA>?
Thanks,

Hi datawrangler,
I agree, this line break/blank is a long standing issue. I did try a dummy dimension but it is not a sustainable outcome. I suspect that one way is to manually configure the xml (PPX) file but I am not sure how the cognos parser treats it. Great post on a fiddly hair-tearing...
I had a similar issue but it was an Acrobat version issue. Was the SOE upgraded recently?

Hi Sagae,
Do you mean you wish to use the C# front end to pass eg. URL parameters to the COGNOS server (much like, and instead of, the Impromptu report prompts) to get to the final drilldown report?

timida,
looks like the only way to do it is to 'trap' the SQL at each query - which is not really practical. i checked with my team and we all came to the same dead end.
love to hear if anyone else was able to come up with an alternative.
cheers

When we rolled out ReportNet, we identified our Power users from the Business Units. As a prerequisite, they had to be proficient Excel users (some VBA or some knowledge of the functions). We then put them on an extensive Report Studio course and then followed up periodically.

You can create a drill through report by adding a parameter to a child report and a drill through connection from the parent to the child.
