On a small SBS 2003 network (5 users), when I log into one account by OWA, the Inbox fails to open. All other folders are okay with this user account and no problem with any other Inboxes via OWA.
Locally the Inbox opens fine. The mailbox is one of the smallest of all users.
Any idea anyone...
I'm trying to split the Internal email contact list (Global Address List) about 25 users into 5 departments. We're using SBS 2003 and I've used the Add Distribution Group wizard, but the new groups do not appear in the Outlook drop down list, only the domain and users.
Has anybody any clues...
I recently had to change our 2003 server at one of our offices due to a hardware failure.
For speed I replaced it with a spare test server which had never been used and simply required a domain name change which I did through dcpromo and then changed the DNS and DHCP to the required IPs.
The...
Thanks Winoto,
Unfortunately, we are only three months into a two year licence with VS8.
We use GFI MailEssentials for antispam and this worked great with ETrust.
I see GFI offer MailSecurity for Exchange Server as their virus scanner for mail servers.
As we are using McAfee Viruscan 8.0...
I've recently started supporting a small network. Two P3 Compaq servers running w2k server. One's a file server and the other an exchange 2000 server and their are twenty-five users.
I'm the third to support them in recent years. The first set them up with ETrust virus protection for file and...
Peter,
Thanks for a quick reply.
I am using SMTP to receive mail and as part of the tweaking I had to turn off ETRN/TURN (originally set up TURN with Auth).
I can telnet the SBS server by name on port 25 as you suggest on the LAN. I can also telnet from another network by the mail ip address...
I've set up Exchange Server 2003 (as part of Small Business Server) on a client's network successfully. All working fine for three weeks now. I used DNS to send mail and a POP3 global mailbox to collect mail from their ISP.
I got SBS 2003 for my own network and as I am using Symantec Antivirus...
I have just started using ASP.NET and trying to link an Access database to to an ASP.NET VB page in Dreamweaver. However, although the OLE DB connection tests as successful, when I expand the database in Dreamweaver under tables, views and stored procedures it says None.
Could anyone tell me...
After running unattended (with no apps running) for 64 hours the PC hasn't lost or gained any time. However, in Windows Task Manager the CPU Time is running at twice the speed of the system clock - in 60 minutes it has gained 120. This is the case both with and without apps running.
Ed,
My immediate thoughts would be the crystal clock as you suggest but as the motherboard is under warranty I will swap out the board if I can't trace it to being a software problem.
Your second post. - "Unfortunately" the PC has kept almost perfect time over the last 48 hours (+/- 2 minutes)...
CDogg,
Just a point, but an interesting one. Clock goes mad when PC is running and on from 8am - 5pm daily. However, from what we can see when system is booted up, although the time has not been corrected, it has neither lost or gained any time.
In other words, if the time was displaying 4.30pm...
RE-EDIT
Jamie,
Thank you for your ideas, but the problem arises when the PC is running. I thought the battery only retained the CMOS setting while the PC is off. If I am wrong please let me know and I will try a replacement.
CEH,
The motherboard is only 8 months old and was quite expensive...

Unfortunately I have had similar problems at work once or twice and no...
One of our CAD workstations is gaining and losing time.
One day it jumps forward by nearly an hour (over a 24 hour period) the next day it takes 5 minutes to count one. The network is well protected against viruses and regularly patched with the latest updates.
I feel it is more than likely to...
Analog,
Followed your suggestions with spybot and adaware. Have tried this before and results in returning the requested home page once(google)then after another attempt back to "about:blank" and spyware warning.
Downloaded f-secure 30 day evaluation copy to replace NIS2004. It could not remove...
Being a Sunday, I have spent the last twelve hours sorting out our network consisting of one 2003 server, a 2000 server acting as a terminal server and 10 workstations, 3 XP pro and 7 w2k professional.
Four workstations have been infected by viruses and spyware during the last 7 days, as had...
I have just changed two XP Pro PCs on a domain from dynamic to static IPs because it was taking 5 mins to log on.
Since I have done that one pc is fine, but the other has an intermittent problem of getting past any home page. Sometimes it's ok, other times when you click on a link it displays...
Problem resolved as soon as XPs given static IPs.
Tried pointing to PDC first but because the server's DNS directs to a Vpop server had to point to the Firewall. I appreciate not ideal but only way to get to Internet.
Anyway now logs on in 8 secs and doesn't lose printers.
Thank you ALL very...
We have 10 PCs on a Windows 2000 Standard domain made up of 8 older Windows 2k pro workstations and 2 brand new XP pros.
All the 2k's are fine, but the XPs both take nearly 5 minutes to log on the network from switch on. I appreciate XP does take much longer logging on to a domain rather than...
