I've recently started supporting a small network. Two P3 Compaq servers running w2k server. One's a file server and the other an exchange 2000 server and their are twenty-five users.

I'm the third to support them in recent years. The first set them up with ETrust virus protection for file and mail level protection and GFI Mail Essentials for antispamming. Everything was great until their fees went through the roof.

The next guys switched them over from ETrust to McAfee Viruscan 8.0 without any protection to Exchange Server and after two months and six visits could not explain why they were getting so much crap coming through particularly the sober worm.

So they contacted me and as I have not used the Enterprise versions of McAfee before I would be grateful if someone could confirm that McAfee GroupShield will do the trick with the Exchange Server running Viruscan Enterprise 8.0 and GFI Mail Essentials.

If GroupShield is the answer - what is the best way of buying it - download or distributor, and how straightforward is it to install?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Mike

Hi,

Buy this if you don't have license for vs8: McAfee® Active Virus Defense SMB Edition

I don't use GFI, but a lot of peope use GS6 and GFI. Some GFI users also use ORF (from Vamsoft) for their antispam, it's really cheap

Thanks Winoto,

Unfortunately, we are only three months into a two year licence with VS8.

We use GFI MailEssentials for antispam and this worked great with ETrust.

I see GFI offer MailSecurity for Exchange Server as their virus scanner for mail servers.

As we are using McAfee Viruscan 8.0 for our file server, GFI MailEssentials for antispam, which provide the better virus protection for our mail out of GroupShield and GFI MailSecurity.

Thanks,

Mike
