Zero Subnet

Hi

Just wanted to clarify something, is the zero subnet in the example below valid?

Subnet 199.88.99.0 255.255.255.252

Hosts 199.88.99.1 to 199.88.99.2

Broadcast 199.88.99.3

I though the first valid subnet would be

Subnet 199.88.99.4 255.255.255.252

Or is this where I would use the 'ip subnet-zero' command

That is a valid subnet. You get two usable hosts which are 199.88.99.1 - 199.88.99.2 and the broadcast address is 199.88.99.3 leaving 199.88.99.4 as the next subnet address. Hope this helps

the subnet u metntioned are correct . it gives you two wan ip s' 199.88.99.1 and 2 rest become network and broadcast address.
