We just purchased a conference phone, the YeaLink 860. I plugged it into the PoE, and it booted up with an IP address of our LAN. It receives a dial tone, but cannot dial out. I logged into the web UI and it looks like it requires account information to be inputted to go online.

Our IP Office is locally hosted through a PRI. Do I need to setup a separate user with a login and ID for this Yealink?

Regards,

I got it figured out.

I added another SIP extension to our locally hosted PBX and added another user for that extension.

Thanks.

You're going to need a 3rd party IP Endpoint for the phone to register if you don't already have one for that device.

Thanks! I got the device registered with our Avaya IP Office 500. It has a dial tone, when making a call it doesn't do anything but say sending.

I tried entering the 8 for an outside line and using all 10-digits, but still can't make calls.

It might be too late now, but the cost of the Yealink plus the third party IP endpoint licence isn't far in price from a 'proper' Avaya phone ...

Okay, so even though the phone's status is "registered" does this mean a special license on the Avaya IP 500 is required to allow it to work properly? I still can't get it to dial out or receive calls.

This is a classic example of why you should contact your maintainer/business partner before buying new equipment

It might have cost a little more up front but it is almost certainly a false economy. You would have been given the advise on exactly what you needed to purchase (hardware & licences) etc as well as being given the appropriate support in configuring the device.

What is the business cost for the time you have currently spent trying to get this working?

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear
