Has anyone come accross the problem where when you are dialing from outlook (2003) it just does not prefix the number with 9. i have setup outlook/dialing rules to do this but it is just ignored.

Any Ideas

Then you haven't followed these steps:

- Click on a contact, and click the phone icon at the top (as if you were going to dial it).
- Click on Dialing Properties.
- Select your location and hit EDIT.
- First box in the DIALING RULES, "To access an outside line for calls, dial: " put a 9 in there.
- OK
- OK
- Start Call

dude - i promise you - i have

if it was that straightforward i wouldn't be continuing to post

I hear your frustration. I have never had to do any of the things you guys are trying. When you first install YA you get a configuration screen that asks for the 3300 IP address AND IT ASKS for the DIALING PREFIX (9). If you did not put in the 9 on this screen this may be your problem. If you also checked the box to prevent the config screen from appearing during startup you must hold down the CTRL key during startup of YA to get it back.

Failing this, have you tried to uninstall and start over?

The TAPI setup is different from that of YA (they are independent).

You just need to setup the TAPI to dial 9 + the number. I'm not sure where we are going wrong here? Perhaps you are not configuring the right TAPI device... which TAPI device are you configuring? Click on DIALING OPTIONS, and pull down the options from CONNECT USING LINE:...

i agree with gfrankland. Outlook just ignores the 9 prefix that is set in the dialling properties. this must be a bug on a version of outlook as i have it working at another site.

Strange

No, it is working. I just used it. You are probably configuring the wrong modem/TAPI device, hence it is not making any difference.

I wish we could post screen captures here.

kwb - this is not YA config - this is trying to get click to dial through a PIM - in this case MS outlook2003

bear - thank the lord that there is someone out there with the same problem! across your two sites are you using the same client/PIM versions? are you using YA or YA lite?

MitelGuy - unfortunately configing the correct TAPI device - will post screen captures tomorrow!

ok - so from the beginning..

I have gone into outlook/contacts/ right clicked on a contact and selected call contact.

this brings up the following screen

new_call.jpg

so i then select dialing properties

phone_and_modem_options.jpg

and select edit

edit_location.jpg

please not I have '9' in as a prefix but it is not listed inserted where 'phone number will be dialed as'

ok - so back to this screen

new_call.jpg

and select 'dialing options'

select 'line properties' to check using the Mitel TAPI

mitel_network_device_properties.jpg

so i am using the correct TAPI and I am putting in the 9 prefix on location options...

so on this screen..

new_call.jpg

i select 'start call'

and this is the message i get...

call_cannot_be_completed_as_dialed.jpg

so i MANUALLY insert a '9' into the number to be dialed...

like this..

new_call_9_inserted.jpg

and i then press 'start call'

and i then get this!

YA_Lite_interface.jpg

So will someone please... please tell me where I am going wrong.. I am more than happy to post additional screen captures in order to solve this problem!

nb. this number is a dead mobile (cellphone) number that I know... I am fully aware that it will not work. However I will not post a 'live' number on a message board.

My Biggest problem is that I almost always believe what I tell myself.

Please post a capture of your Dialing Options, with your "Connect Using Line" bar pulled down.

Ps. Mitel guys don't like black-mail. Mitel guys, always help out others without wanting something in return.

" Mitel | It's about YOU!

ok so here is the connect line using menu bar pulled down..

connect_line_using.jpg

the number 164 is my ext on the 3300

ps. the posting of images is really simple.. i upload them to my webserver and then http:// reference them using img tags

editing and formatting references for posts can be found in the 'process TGML' link when you are writing your reply. I expect to see creative posts from now on!

What version of YA are you running? You are missing the correct TAPI device.

For those of us in North America, can you please break the number up so we can see the country code, area code, prefix and number?

For Example, we are 01 519 555 1212
01 Country code
519 Area code
555 Prefix (or Exchange)
1212 Number

using lite 3.0.9

oh really... interesting - what precisely should i be using if i am missing the correct TAPI device?

our code is broken up as follows:

+44 (0)1753 123456

44 - country code
01753 - area code (it's called an std code in the UK! you drop the first 0 if you are calling into the UK from abroad)
123456 - number

so if i was to call someone else nationally i would call 01234 123456

if you were to call them you would call +44 1234 123456

This is from Mitel's On Line Documents
Maybe it will help.

Your Assistant Rel 3.1 clients have the ability to dial from Outlook and Microsoft Phone Dialer. Some YA Clients have reported issues when trying to use this feature.

Symptoms:
- When trying to dial from Outlook the client may receive an error in Outlook indicating an Internal Software Error has occurred.
- Dialing from MS Phone Dialer, the client may receive an error indicating that the line/device is busy, and please ensure that it has power, etc...

Resolution:
- Please ensure that the NAME and IP ADDRESS fields in the Switch Properties on the YA Server are both programmed with the IP Address of the 3300 ICP.
- Shutdown and launch the YA client application again in order to pull the information from the server.

If the above steps do not resolve the issue, please check the following:

- Launch the Registry Editor on the YA Client PC. (Start - Run - regedit)
Browse to the following location:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Mitel Networks\Mitel Networks Tapi Service Provider\Providerx\Adapterx\Switch0
(NOTE: You may have more than one adapter listed. Please check all of the adapters have the correct settings.)
- Highlight the Switch0 key, there is a Name field in the window on the right side. Please make sure the value for this field is the IP Address of the 3300 ICP. If it is blank, or has 0.0.0.0, please open the field and enter the correct IP Address.
