Would like to make career change; ie Ecommerce/Web.....

I am an Computer Operations Analyst with 15 yrs experience in the Operations enviroment. I would like to pursue a new direction by starting a small Ecommerce Online business or a job as a Web professional. Where should I start, what courses/programs of study are most important to begin first? Are there any online resources, books, etc that are good ?

I would be willing to put in the hard work, time commitment, etc. I would have to finance the learning process myself, so I am looking for an effective route to take.

Check out local colleges. They may have courses on not only e-comerce marketing but on programming. I would suggest you get these courses first. Too many "dot coms" bit the dust because they had no real marketing strategy or viability.
